Madison Wisconsin’s best aeration and lawncare company, dedicated to helping people achieve more beautiful lawns without the use of toxic chemicals.

Aeration allows your lawn to breath, bringing moisture and oxygen deep into the ground promoting a deeper, more drought resistant root structure.

Prepping for Aeration

In order to make aeration the MOST effective, there are a few things you can do before we come poke holes:

  1. Pickup your yard. No dog poop, toys, or hoses.

  2. Mow your grass short. This does 2 things; it helps me see what I am doing, and you want limit traffic on your yard to allow it to recover

  3. Hydrate! If it’s rained recently, no need, but if it’s been dry, watering your lawn allows deeper cores and more effective aeration

After Aeration

In order to make aeration the MOST effective, here are some things you can do afterwords:

  1. Keep your yard moist! All those holes will accelerate how fast your yard dries out, which can kill new root structures. Try to water it at least 30 minutes every single day for about 2 weeks

  2. Limit foot traffic. Take your dogs for a walk, take your kids to the park. Your yard will be in a fragile state for a few weeks and it needs to recover. Also, your dog/kids will love you for this.

  3. Wait to mow until the baby grass gets at least 3” tall. The new grass will be very delicate, and you want to avoid mowing for around 2 weeks to allow it to grow more resilient.
